TITLE: Engineer III, Packaging/Labeling
HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
DUTIES: Support design, development, and validation of medical device packaging for several product platforms within the Microbiology Division;
- Contribute to and lead packaging projects, alternate material supply development, testing and approval and ensure that standard methodologies are employed;
- Align current and future packaging practices to existing and evolving global standards: review packaging change options (specifications and drawings) and determine the risk associated with change;
- Design test methods and conduct validation testing on packaging components for operations;
- Knowledge of various packaging material attributes and fabrication of supplier parts to include injection molding, thermoforming, paperboard, glass plastic, flexibles, rubber components, desiccants, tamper evidence options, labels, etc.;
- Write report (protocols) to document testing for qualification of packaging components;
- Perform line trials using AQL methods to verify packaging performance and measuring components per protocol and SOP's;
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and cross-functional teams (including Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, Regulatory, Sales) to assess the feasibility and implementation of packaging design, material, or process changes;
- Develop and execute packaging test methods that specify measurement equipment, test set-up, measurement systems analysis, and data analysis and align to business and regulatory requirements and needs Author/review;
- Design control documents; develop protocols to test specification and regulatory requirements;
- Lead, coordinate, and support packaging projects to ensure compliance to specification, timeline, and schedule;
- Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel, and others to implement cost reduction, standardization, methods improvement, and product improvements.
