This position is with the District Six Technical Support.

Why does the job exist?

Purpose of the position is to perform or provide technical direction and assistance in preparing District Six projects' plans to advertise for construction. The position supervises the District six Design Section, and coordinates with Central Region Design and other technical bureaus in the General Office. Position also assists other sections in the District in reviewing their project plans, as and when directed by the Assistant District Engineer in Engineering Support.

How does it get done?

Manage District Projects Design Program, information distribution of District projects, mentoring and offering training courses to the Design/Support staff, and staff Management.

Who are the customers?

Department of Transportation, public entities, and vendors.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

-MicroStation
-Microsoft Office
-AutoCAD preferred

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and ten (10) years of engineering experience, five (5) of which must be as a Licensed Professional Engineer and (2) years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire.

Employment Requirements

Registration as a Professional Engineer by the NM State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Driver's License verification and reference check required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field and office setting. Work extended hours and occasional travel required. Exposure to inclement weather and traffic. Extensive video terminal use. Ability to meet multiple deadlines; interact with the public and vendors.
