We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated Engineered Systems Project Engineer to join our Design & Build team within Rhino Tool House with specialized expertise in conveyor and material handling systems (conveyor integrated with other components such as lift tables, rotate stations, tilt tables, etc.). This role requires an individual with expertise in managing and executing complex engineered systems projects from inception through to successful delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to achieve project goals.

Job Description:

This role requires an individual with expertise in managing and executing complex engineered systems projects from inception through to successful delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, design, development, and implementation of engineered systems projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- System Design & Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to design, configure, and implement engineered systems that meet client specifications and operational requirements. Lead the design and development of conveyor and material handling systems, including layout planning, component selection, and system integration.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and safety regulations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project teams, maintaining clear and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel for project tasks, ensuring optimal efficiency and adherence to project schedules.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and implement proactive strategies to mitigate them.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet high-quality standards and specifications, conducting regular reviews and inspections.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, budgets, technical specifications, and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- New Product Development: Play a crucial role in new product development, from concept to production, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations.
- Engineering Drawings & CAD Modeling: Produce detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, material procurement, and documentation from concept through to successful project completion.
- Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, technological advances, and best practices in conveyor and material handling design.
- System Analysis: Conduct engineering calculations to ensure system safety, performance, and integrity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to deliver comprehensive turnkey solutions.
- Prototype Testing & Validation: Oversee the development, testing, and validation of prototypes for new systems and components.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance system efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure systems meet all relevant industry safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance during system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-project reviews and implement improvements in processes, tools, and systems for future projects.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or work experience in a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the engineered systems or industrial sectors.
- Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of engineered systems design, integration, and implementation.
- Proficiency with project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in new product development is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with automation, robotics, and control systems integration.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Proven customer-facing project management experience with a sense of urgency.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Experience in automation, control systems, and electrical systems.
- Experience with industrial automated systems, particularly in material handling.
- Ability to conceptualize and articulate customer solutions with limited information.
- Leadership experience in directing engineers and external suppliers to meet project milestones on time and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with simulation software for material flow analysis.
- Familiarity with ISO Standards, Quality Systems, and / or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Certifications inPMP (Project Management Professional), PE (Professional Engineer) or similar certification is a plus.
