The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Division of Facilities Services is looking for an Engineering Assistant 3 in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Pay is based on the location of the selected applicant; salaries will be discussed at the time of the interview.

What you will be doing:
This position functions as a Resident Project Engineer in charge of construction projects of average size and complexity, typically ranging from $500,000 to $25,000,000. As a Resident Engineer, the employee`s primary responsibility is to provide on-site agency representation and maintain continuous inspection of contractor activities day and/or night. This position also may serve to conduct construction phase project closeouts, and/or concurrent review of the construction phase documentation of others.
As Resident Engineer, this position is an on-site representative of the Contracting Officer. This responsibility requires the performance of necessary engineering functions as well as constant inspection of the contractor`s operation to control the work in accordance with standards and policy. The Resident Engineer is the primary liaison for the resolution of construction-related problems and is responsible for obtaining advice from proper professionals (e.g., design architects and engineers of record for design questions.) In consultation with the supervisor, the Resident Engineer is expected to make equitable and timely decisions for the resolution of problems during construction.
This position serves in the Statewide Public Facilities Section of the Division of Facilities Services (DFS). This position will work with design and construction project managers as well as maintenance and operations managers. Position duties include, but are not limited to, oversight for Pre-Construction Conferences, Construction Submittal reviews, DBE Program, Subcontracts, Project Initiation, Execution, and Close-out, Labor & Payroll requirements, Review Estimates, Status Reports, Research, Etc. Support DFS with Deferred Maintenance Project Management, CMMS business/system administration, and facility optimization management.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Or:
A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET.
AND
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
AND
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. The specific experience includes such work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitutions:
Four years of any combination of ABET accredited postsecondary education in engineering, architecture, or land surveying (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and/or engineering, architectural or land surveying experience may substitute for the required degree.
