Summary: Develops technology, strategy and architecture associated with NPD and Sustaining Engineering for STC Sensor related brands and products. Maintains, manages, and oversees the overall scope, schedule and budget for each engineering project and institutes policies and procedures to drive to on-schedule and on-budget completion. Works closely with Customer Service and Product Management regarding approaches to address existing as well as emerging market opportunities. Relies on analytically minded, data-driven approaches to complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following.

Product Development

  • Leads development of new products and modifications to existing products with input from Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, and Product Management.
  • Capable of directing the activities of Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware and Software Engineering resources including third-party contractors.
  • Performs Risk Assessments regarding technical topics and issues.
  • Evaluates vendors and procurement strategies including support for Supplier Assessments and audits.
  • Coordinates with Operations regarding new product releases, Value Engineering and Sustainment of existing products.
  • Reviews designs, technical architectures, development strategies for Sensor based products, Factory Automation and Spring reel product lines.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise in the development, troubleshooting and analysis of analog, digital, power and microcontroller based electronic systems.
  • Reviews and develops designs and documentation packages using Word and other engineering application software for both internal and external use.

Sustaining & Manufacturing Engineering

  • Assists with product introductions into manufacturing, supporting Purchasing and Production departments.
  • Supports Sustaining Engineering activities including component substitution approval, documentation updates, and agency compliance recertification efforts.
  • Reviews product designs to optimize component and manufacturing costs (DFMEA) on a continual basis to support manufacturing and cost reduction (VA/VE) programs.
  • Participates in customer site visits as required
  • Supports sales and customer service to address customer needs as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

General Engineering Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Electronic Engineering from four-year college or university.
  • Six to eight years related experience and/or training in an engineering environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands on experience performing root cause analysis, 5Y, or other analysis techniques. Capable of troubleshooting complex electronic circuit designs including using diagnostic instruments.
  • Participate in the approvals and maintenance of certification for Class 3 medical devices used for air bubble, blood and occlusion detection as well as flow measurement.
  • Participate in the certification of electronic, electro-mechanical products for use in hazardous applications with experience in hazardous location approval including FM, ATEX, and IECEx desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, as well as exceptional design documentation and project organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under little supervision, able to adapt to changing design requirements and easily transition between projects to meet priorities.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Compensation

Employee Type:Salaried

Salary Minimum:$170,000

Salary Maximum:$200,000 +
