The Role:
The Engineering Lab Supervisor is responsible for testing existing and new products from the Specialty Flow Control product offering, ensuring lab equipment is in working order, maintaining testing facilities are clean and organized and ensuring that Xylem ESH procedures are followed. Responsibilities include building and maintaining test set-ups consisting of plumbing, gauges, transducers, valves, etc., as needed to perform the requested product testing and evaluation, running and monitoring the tests, the accuracy of the test results, collecting and appropriately storing test records, timely communication of test findings, ESH safety training and documentation of site incidents & accidents.

The Role:

Core Responsibilities:
- The Lab Supervisor is responsible for all testing activities for existing and new products from the Xylem SFC Product range.
- Works close with product team members to help define product Qualitative Test Specification / Test plan.
- Conducts testing with minimal direction and supervision, in accordance with standard and non-standard test procedures for product performance, design verification, validation, and endurance testing.
- Develops, builds, and maintains test stations and test set ups consisting of electrical wiring, plumbing, gauges, transducers, relays, timers, valves, PLC's etc., as needed to perform the requested testing.
- Responsible for running and monitoring the tests, the accuracy of the test results, collecting and appropriately storing test records, and rapid communication of findings.
- Provides investigation, analysis and solutions to technical problems encountered by engineering services, quality control, marketing, procurement and manufacturing departments using the application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Maintains and Develops Lab related work instructions, procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Specifies materials and supplies needed to support lab functions.
- May be required to perform other assignments which are normally related to the work of higher or lower engineering classifications.
ESH Responsibilities - Local Coordinator
- Enforce ESH requirements / procedures in areas of direct responsibility
- Verify ESH training, as required by the Company & Regulation, is completed and documentation is maintained
- Work with site management and safety committee to develop and implement strategies, policies, and services to increase employee safety & reduce organization risks
- Participate in monthly management meetings to review ESH KPI's/Accountability/zero initiative goals, targets & objectives, progress and KPIs
- Prepares the required internal safety forms for accidents and incidents occurring at facility
- Conducts department safety inspection on a regular basis, using the preprinted checklist as a guide
- Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals in the facilities
- Ensures that all safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.) are kept updated, meeting current building codes and in proper working order
- Ensures that hazardous-waste disposal is handed in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
- Maintains records on company vehicles and ensures proper maintenance is performed.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree, preferably in Engineering or in a technical area of science and research with at least 5 years' experience or a MS degree without professional experience
- Must have advanced understanding of valves, pumps, electric motors, and / or other electro mechanical products to design and develop test stations/setups
- Proficient in Data Acquisition / National Instruments LabView software and PLC programming
- Proficient in Excel to record and report data and produce graphs/charts
- Product testing experience (such as vibration, shock, thermal, overcurrent protection, etc.)
- Familiar with product compliance standards such as ISO, IEC, EN, CSE, UL, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machining (milling, turning, drilling, grinding etc) is desirable.
