Summary:

Responsible for all Maintenance, Engineering and Project Management activities and personnel necessary in a complex bakery facility, ensuring equipment reliability, successful project implementation, and overall management of maintenance / capital budgets. Develops / manages a capable maintenance and engineering workforce, while driving the achievement of critical objectives in equipment uptime and performance, while also supporting operations in reducing costs and improving quality. Vigorously applies the latest concepts of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) throughout the organization. Supports the facility by applying new technologies and/or equipment improvements to reduce costs and improve plant overall efficiencies.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develops and manages effective maintenance, capital and engineering leadership. Builds a strong team.
  • Responsible for plant equipment breakdown performance, effective planning, and capital budget adherence.
  • Develops, manages and implements complex bakery process & plant projects.
  • Prepares requests for capital appropriations, and tracks, manages, and reports on the plant capital budget.
  • Supervises and manage others (both internal and external resources) based on project requirements.
  • Improves plant equipment efficient through effective use of technology, TPM, and process improvements.
  • Must have successful project execution skills in terms of the Maintenance, Facility Management, Sanitation, and Engineering.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, work ethic, attitude, and safety mindset. Capable of being a team player on a strong plant leadership team.
  • With the Maintenance Manager, implements and maintains a strong Total Productive Maintenance program, supporting the development of the proper mindset, capabilities, and skill sets necessary for a successful program.
  • With the Facilities and Engineering team, supports effective capital management skills, driving strong ROI projects, while managing the overall capital efficiency to support
  • Provides direct support to Maintenance and Facilities manager as needed or required.


Education and Work Experience:
  • BS in Engineering (Process, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical), PE license preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience leading operations, highly effective maintenance systems, and the ability to lead large capital projects.
  • 5+ year's food processing industry management experience as a department leader (bakery experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of high-performance maintenance programs
  • Experience in efficient capital management, including productivity improvement and maintenance capital
  • Leadership experience in managing a team of department heads, including maintenance and engineering
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, MS Project, Power Point, Access).

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment while performing job. (i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, bump cap, hair net, steel toe rubber boots, gloves).
  • May be required to work in hot environments (up to 102 degrees Fahrenheit) for intervals of 45 minutes.
  • May be required to work in cold and/or wet environments of a minimum of 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be able to constantly stand, stoop, walk, bend, push or pull for duration of shift, which may last up to 12 hours.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly articulate verbal and written communication to all levels of management within the company
  • May work in Production or Warehouse storage areas.
  • May be required to climb ladders/stairs
