Reports to: Executive Vice President of APC Operations

Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Applications, and Project Engineering Departments in our Air Pollution Control business. The Engineering Manager will be involved in all aspects of a project's lifecycle, from the support of Sales during bidding through project execution, commissioning, and startup. They will also be responsible for managing the workload among the Engineers and flexing resources as the workload shifts in different parts of the Company to meet the overall Engineering needs of the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and assign Engineering personnel to various projects and proposals. Monitor project and proposal work and schedule to ensure individual deadlines are met.
  • Mentor and monitor performance of department personnel and develop Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Engineering department.
  • Monitor and verify engineering outputs (designs and analyses), technical documents, and specifications to ensure compliance, consistency, accuracy, quality, and timeliness. This includes assisting Engineers with the interpretation of specifications and sizing of equipment.
  • Work with Project Managers and/or Sales Managers to determine scope of work, outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of responsibility.
  • Evaluate vendor offered products and solutions. Cultivate innovation exchanges with suppliers and industry partners.
  • Review department workloads to maintain the appropriate level of resources and manage departmental costs in accordance with the budget.
  • Meet with other department leads to obtain feedback for planning department activities, determine status of work in progress while ensuring proper engineering principles are followed to meet customer's specifications and satisfaction.
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement procedures, standards, specifications and practices for optimum quality, throughput, and profitability to achieve Company goals and ensure best practices.
  • Supervise and provide feedback on engineering deliverables including equipment sizing, mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, pressure drop calculations, and fan and material-handling sizing, P&IDs, functional descriptions, start-up checklists, instrument lists, and operation manuals.
  • Assist in recruitment for APC Engineering department, perform annual performance evaluations, career planning, and mentor direct reports.


Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop an Engineering team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Focused and efficient with time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Highly motivated with expert-level knowledge of engineering best practices.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Strategic and critical thinker with the ability to analyze data.
  • Thorough knowledge of effective management and supervisory methods.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with advanced organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.
  • SAP, CAD, or knowledge of similar platforms a plus.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience working as a Mechanical or Chemical Engineer in a heavy industrial field.
  • Prior management/leadership experience required.
  • Plant 3D experience is a plus.

Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel to attend meetings, participate in sales efforts, perform studies/audits, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting support.
