Position Summary
Position Summary:
Manages transportation and other development and improvement projects ensuring they align with city goals, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. Serves as lead staff member for delivery of capital projects through design and land acquisition phases coordinating with consultants, contractors, and internal departments to maintain project timelines and budgets. Applies creative thinking and problem-solving to develop context-sensitive and cost-effective approaches to engineering and development challenges. Collaborates with stakeholders, including residents, developers, and government agencies, to balance project objectives with community needs. Utilizes a proactive, adaptable approach to managing multiple projects, mitigating risks, and delivering high-quality public infrastructure that enhances mobility, safety, and sustainability within the city.

Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering; and five (5) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Provides transportation public and private development review.
- Conducts technical reviews of development plans, site plans, and traffic impact studies to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
- Coordinates with developers, engineers, and internal staff to address traffic flow, pedestrian access, and roadway design requirements.
- Works closely with Community Development and Public Works staff to streamline development processes and ensure alignment with city objectives.
- Coordinates with consultants, contractors, and government agencies to advance transportation projects from concept through completion.
- Tracks project schedules, financial expenditures, and reporting requirements to maintain compliance with funding regulations.
- Develops transportation planning initiatives to enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity within the city.
- Conducts traffic studies, analyzes data, and recommends improvement measures.
- Works with regional and state agencies to coordinate improvements and funding opportunities.
- Ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies innovative and cost-effective solutions to engineering and construction challenges, incorporating creative problem-solving and context-sensitive design approaches.
- Provides technical guidance and support to city leadership, contractors, and the public on infrastructure improvements.
- Provides emergency operations support as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering; and five (5) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Georgia Professional Engineer License is required or must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- Requires a valid State of Georgia Driver's License with an acceptable driving history.
