Fremont School District 79 is seeking an English Language Learner Teacher to support the Extended School Year (ESY) program, running June 6, 2025-June 27, 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Illinois Professional Educator License;
  • English As A Second Language Endorsement

POSITION SUMMARY:
The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students who are acquiring English as an additional language. The primary goal is to facilitate English language development and academic success for English Language Learners (ELLs). The ELL Teacher develops and implements effective language instruction strategies, collaborates with colleagues, and engages with students and their families to create a supportive learning environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of ELL students at different proficiency levels.
  • Align curriculum with state standards and school objectives, ensuring a focus on language acquisition and content comprehension.
  • Conduct language proficiency assessments to determine students' English language development levels.
  • Implement ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other educators to analyze assessment data and make informed decisions about instructional planning.
  • Employ a variety of research-based instructional strategies to support language development, including differentiation, scaffolding, and visual aids.
  • Integrate language acquisition activities into content areas to enhance language skills across the curriculum.
  • Foster a language-rich classroom environment that encourages active communication and collaboration among students.
  • Promote cultural understanding and sensitivity within the classroom to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for ELL students.
  • Incorporate diverse perspectives and materials that reflect the cultural backgrounds of ELL students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support the holistic development of ELL students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ELL education and language acquisition.
  • Communicate regularly with parents of ELL students to provide updates on progress and strategies for continued support at home.
  • Participate in school events and activities to foster positive relationships with the broader community.

SALARY INFORMATION:
  • $46.00/hour
