Position overview:

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services Division of Medical Programs is seeking a motivated individual to serve as the Eligibility/Peripheral System Supervisor within the Bureau of Technical Support. This is a dynamic position working directly with the Eligibility system and other peripheral systems across the Medicaid Enterprise. The position requires the ability to understand system architecture, interfaces, data exchanges, and business processes surrounding the Eligibility and Medicaid Management Information systems and the transfer to downstream systems. The Bureau of Technical Support offers staff the ability to continue to grow and learn through system implementations across the Division of Medical Programs. The position will provide a learning opportunity for the Impact MMIS system along with many other systems across the Medicaid Enterprise.

Essential Functions

  • Subject to management approval, serves as an Enrollment Tech Support Supervisor by planning, directing, and evaluating the operation of the Eligibility/Peripheral Programs statewide
  • Directs and reviews the completion of specific segments of the design, research, analysis, and implementation of the Eligibility/Peripheral Programs computer mainframe systems and subsystems
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Directs studies of feasibility and consequences of proposed policies, regulations, law, and procedural changes
  • Serves as liaison to the Department of Innovation and Technology
  • Develops Personal Computer (PC) and Internet based systems to work in conjunction with the department's main frame computer system
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college
  • Requires prior experience to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the fields of management information systems, data processing, or telecommunications


Specialized Skills

  • Three (3) years of experience working with the Medicaid Management Information System, Eligibility system, and/or Peripheral systems
  • Three (3) years of experience creating queries on a Data Warehouse
  • Three (3) years of experience working with HIPAA transactions that are used for claiming, eligibility, claim status and payment and web application development and design at a technical or business level


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with a Medicaid Management Information System, Eligibility system, and/or Peripheral systems
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience creating queries on a Data Warehouse
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with HIPAA transactions that are used for, eligibility, claim status and remittance advise and web application development and design at a technical or business level
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing and executing user acceptance test scripts
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience gathering and documenting business requirement for enhancements/defects to administrative systems
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working in a Healthcare, Payer, or insurance setting
