Description:
TIAA is seeking an Enterprise Business Architect to join our Technology Architecture and Transformation team. The purpose of this role is to lead and drive the design & development of Capability Taxonomy, Maturity Model, Value Stream Modeling, Industry Domain Reference Architectures and Business Architecture Metrics for TIAA Platform. The role should provide thought leadership and strategic direction, to influence the overall company strategy and enable architecture for all stakeholders - business, product management, designers and engineering. Working with business stakeholders and internal development teams, the role will ensure the alignment of capabilities with business objectives.

Base Pay Range: $143,600/yr. - $209,900/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and maintain TIAA's business capability map in collaboration with business unit leaders and architects.
- Lead the development and refinement of TIAA's Capability Maturity Model and Value Stream Models.
- Create frameworks to support capability-based planning, execution, and architectural alignment.
- Define architecture principles, tool selection criteria, and strategies for build/buy/acquire decisions.
- Deliver reference architectures for business areas based on enterprise strategy and operating models.
- Identify innovation and investment opportunities while improving platform efficiency and value delivery.
- Create models mapping TIAA's products and offerings to reusable platform capabilities.
- Influence TIAA's platform evolution by contributing to cross-product architectural frameworks.
- Guide architecture delivery through collaboration with development teams, product teams, and stakeholders.
- Represent the architecture function in strategic business planning and platform direction.
- Mentor rising leaders and build engineering and data analyst teams for scalable execution.
- Drive strong architectural documentation, stakeholder communication, and executive engagement.
- Promote capability planning that connects business strategy with operational execution.

Required Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, including global business transformation.
- Hands-on experience in Business Process Modeling, Capability-Driven Architecture, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Expertise in platforms such as SaaS, cloud-native environments, or high-volume transaction systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan architecture roadmaps and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including executive-level communication and influence.
- Practical experience in applying Domain-Driven Design and enterprise architectural frameworks.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Retirement, FinTech, Insurance, or Investment domains.
- Certifications such as TOGAF, SAFE Architect, or Well-Architected Frameworks.
- Experience leading architecture for M&A, platform modernization, or complex business initiatives.
- Familiarity with capability maturity modeling, organizational design, and business operating models.
- Proven change management and transformation leadership skills.
- Strong talent development and mentorship capabilities within technical teams.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
