The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

Primary responsibilities include the following requiring close partnership with MUFG Businesses and Functions, including Data Officers, Technology and Operations.
  • Define the enterprise data governance, management and quality control program for MUFG Americas.
  • Build and implement the Data Management Integrated Control Framework (DMICF), including detailed data quality processes and controls, across the Enterprise Data Management Architecture to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239 alignment), and enable analytics to support expense reduction, risk reduction and top line growth.
  • Implement an enhanced ongoing process to identify, prioritize, track, escalate and resolve data-related issues to improve data quality for Tier 1 Risk and Regulatory Reports, Financial Crimes Prioritized Processes such as AML, KYC and Transaction Filtering, and a broader set of reports and key business processes.
  • Lead the development, testing and production of Key Data Elements Data Quality Rule measurement to monitor and improve data quality.
  • Manage and mature the Data Tracing function to ensure data accuracy for Tier 1 Risk and Regulatory Reports and Prioritized Financial Crimes Processes such as AML by executing sample-based data traces from consumption to source systems and source documents (e.g., credit agreements).
  • Define, plan and execute both customer and business/product data strategy, including customer master data management, cross party reference and business/product hierarchy for the enterprise.
  • Lead the development, testing and production execution of Information Risk, Technology and Data Metrics to address regulatory commitments and Tier 1, 2 and 3 Risk Reporting requirements.
  • Integrate data quality processes and controls into the respective Risk & Control Self-Assessments across the enterprise for ongoing monitoring of design, effectiveness, and sustainability by the Business Unit Risk & Control Officers.
  • Represent the CDO organization in various C-suite Committees, Board and regulator meetings, socialize the data program across all executive levels, and drive stakeholder alignment.


Core Functions
  • MUFG Data Risk Management
  • Define, maintain and ensure implementation of the DMICF across the Production, Aggregation and Consumption Layers of the Enterprise Data Management Architecture for the following scope Target Scope Areas per our internal and external data risk management, including the FRB MOU.
  • Key RCSA Business Processes.
  • Front End Production Systems
  • Prioritized Financial Crimes Processes, namely AML, KYC, Transaction Filtering
  • Tier 1, 2 and 3 Risk and Regulatory Reports


  • DMICF Consumption Layer Controls
  • Ensure implementation of the DMICF Consumption Layer Controls for Target Scope Areas including direct ownership of the following controls for the enterprise.
  • Report Inventory
  • Training
  • Change Control


  • DMICF Aggregation Layer Controls
  • Ensure Golden Source, Calculator, Model Identification & Certification for Target Scope Areas.
  • Directly build new Key Data Element (KDE) Data Integrity Testing for MUBK and ensure the implementation of Comprehensiveness Controls and other DMICF Aggregation Layer Controls for the enterprise.
  • Directly execute and maintain KDE Integrity Testing in production for MUBK.


  • DMICF Production Layer Controls
  • Directly perform data profiling and sample-based data tracing on Priority Level 1 Priority KDEs for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports and Prioritized Financial Crimes Processes to confirm data accuracy.
  • Ensure implementation of the DMICF Production Layer Controls for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports and Target Scope Areas.


  • Data Quality Incident/Problem/issue Management
  • Provide governance, oversight and monitoring dispositioning of Data Quality Incidents.
  • Ensure material and persistent Data Quality Problems and Issues are identified and remediated within estimated turn-around times (ETT).
  • Maintain and enhance Data Quality tools (DQP (JIRA) and DAA (Data Accuracy Automation) Portal))
  • Execute and maintain DAA based KDE Data Accuracy Validation w/ Line of Business Data Custodians in production


  • Metrics Factory
  • Review and approve metrics onboarding submissions for Information Risk Management, Technology and Effectiveness Metrics.
  • Monthly collection of active metrics, variance analysis, breach commentary, and certification from process owners.
  • Track and report Data Quality Lifecycle Metrics for Tier 1 and 2 Risk & Regulatory Reports and Prioritized Financial Crimes Processes.


  • Party/Customer Master Data Management
  • Define, plan and execute customer data strategy.
  • Business ownership of party master data and enterprise party cross reference applications.
  • Business/Product Data Management
  • Define, plan and execute business/product data strategy.


The typical base pay range for this role is between $245K - $327K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
