JOB SUMMARY:

The Enterprise System Administrator is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the organization's server infrastructure, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and both local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), along with telecom systems. This role involves advanced systems and network modeling, analysis, and capacity planning. The individual will collaborate closely with the Enterprise Systems Architect and Team Lead to assess, design, and recommend optimal server, network, and data communications hardware and software solutions, while also ensuring the security and integrity of the network infrastructure. Additionally, the Systems Administrator II will provide support for applications managed on the servers, ensuring seamless performance and operational continuity. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position is critical to supporting the organization's technological growth, maintaining infrastructure stability, and optimizing the performance of business-critical applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Monitor, configure, and maintain servers and client machines: Ensure timely updates to software and operating systems for optimal performance and security.
  • Oversee server and application-level backups: Maintain backup infrastructure to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness, performing regular integrity checks and testing.
  • Provide support and maintenance for infrastructure: Manage and maintain a large, enterprise-wide Microsoft, Juniper infrastructure, ensuring its continuous operation and performance.
  • Optimize network server operations: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to services such as DHCP, DNS, O365, Active Directory, Entra, File Shares, SQL, SharePoint, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Implement security controls: Apply and enforce security measures to protect network infrastructure, applications, and data, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational policies.
  • Maintain network and security-related documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including architectural diagrams, configurations, and security protocols, to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients: Understand and gather specific system requirements, offering tailored solutions that align with business needs and IT goals.
  • Provide guidance on project costs and design concepts: Advise on project feasibility, cost analysis, design changes, and technology solutions to meet organizational objectives.
  • Document design specifications and system details: Create clear documentation for system architecture, installation procedures, and operational workflows to facilitate maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Verify system stability and scalability: Ensure the systems' stability, security, and scalability, making necessary adjustments to support future growth and business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support: Offer expert support for the development, integration, or troubleshooting of systems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Establish guidelines for secure system implementation: Help business partners within IT understand and implement secure practices for new and existing systems.
  • Proactively monitor system operations: Detect potential issues or inefficiencies early, ensuring corrective action is taken to maintain system reliability and security.
  • Develop and implement automation and scripting: Utilize tools like PowerShell to automate administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Conduct system performance monitoring and tuning: Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance, addressing bottlenecks or resource constraints to improve reliability and speed.
  • Collaborate in disaster recovery planning and testing: Participate in the creation and regular testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure the organization's ability to recover from failures swiftly and efficiently.
  • Patch management and vulnerability remediation: Ensure timely application of patches to all system components and lead vulnerability remediation efforts to maintain a secure environment.
  • Capacity planning and scalability: Evaluate current system usage, forecast future needs, and ensure infrastructure can support future business growth and high availability.
  • User and access management: Administer user accounts, roles, and permissions, enforcing access control policies and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., least privilege).
  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting: Manage system outages and high-priority incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Manage change management processes: Ensure that system changes follow approved procedures, including testing and documentation, to avoid disruptions and improve system stability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with security, development, network, and operations teams to resolve issues, integrate systems, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Support compliance and audit requirements: Ensure that systems comply with regulatory standards (such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, or ISO 27001), and assist in audit processes when required.
  • Cloud integration and management: Oversee the integration and management of cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), supporting hybrid or full cloud strategies.
  • Maintain thorough system documentation and knowledge sharing: Create comprehensive and accessible system-related documentation and encourage knowledge sharing within the team to enhance collaboration and consistency.
  • Vendor and third-party service management: Manage relationships with vendors and third-party service providers, ensuring that service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and solutions align with business requirements.
  • Implement security auditing and monitoring tools: Utilize advanced security monitoring systems to detect threats, conduct audits, and maintain robust defenses against both internal and external risks.
  • Test and verify backup and data integrity: Regularly test backup systems and ensure data integrity to guarantee recoverability of critical systems and data.

EDUCATION

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology

Preferred:
  • Master's degree is preferred


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required:
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Operating Systems and Office suite: In-depth knowledge of Windows Server, Windows OS, and Office 365 (O365), including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Active Directory (AD) and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD / Entra): Proven ability to manage, configure, and troubleshoot AD environments, including group policy management, user administration, and hybrid cloud integrations.
  • Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP and Connectivity Troubleshooting: Extensive experience diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues, with a solid understanding of networking protocols and services.
  • Backup and Recovery Planning: Hands-on experience in backup strategies, recovery planning, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
  • Firewall and Security Systems Administration: Proficient in managing and administering firewalls, content filters, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to safeguard network infrastructure.
  • Problem-solving and Solution Evaluation: Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex information, identify the root cause of issues, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Effective Active Listening and Communication Skills: Capable of understanding user needs and translating technical information in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail and Change Detection: Ability to identify patterns, evaluate data, and detect anomalies or changes in system performance to proactively address issues.

  • Scripting and Automation: Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks, streamline operations, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Project Management and Collaboration: Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams on technology projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring successful project execution.
