Description:

UTS is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Specialist with consulting experience to play a key role in implementing New and existing programs The ideal candidate will have served as a leader in the field and has a track record of high-quality outputs, team building with excellent client communication skills and responsiveness. This is a fast-track opportunity for a senior-level professional looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader. The role will be predominantly remote with maximum field work. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing environmental regulatory compliance reviews through consultation with internal, external environmental teams.
  • Develop, manage, and coordinate the environment component of projects and programs
  • Conducting Biological Constraints Reports (Desktop Reviews), with experience using geographic information systems.
  • Assist with field work tasks, as needed, such as meeting with and training multiple teams to understand environmental requirements (breeding bird surveys, vegetation community assessments, wetland delineation, special-status species surveys, and monitoring).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of existing regulatory requirements, wildlife, and vegetation assessment methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability to process, organize, and evaluate large volumes of information.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor or MS of Science in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Southern California flora and fauna.
  • Experience with wetland reviews and habitat communities.
  • Wetland delineation training certificate.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in Herpetology, Ornithology, Plant Taxonomy / Botany, Herpetology, Mammalogy, preferred.
  • Wildlife Management & Techniques
  • Utility Forestry / Arborist
  • Ability to work with large data sets using webapps, and Microsoft office.
  • Well-developed team building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
  • Bilingual preferred

Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (5 to 10 lbs.); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
