Job Summary
The Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and mitigate workplace hazards. This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, reducing company risk and implementing Health, Safety, and Environmental systems throughout the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and manage the Pillars of Safety program.
- Supervise the safety team, including safety coordinators, to ensure the effective implementation of safety programs and compliance with regulations.
- Manage and oversee safety training initiatives, ensuring that all employees are properly trained on safety protocols and procedures.
- Coordinate and support the activities of the safety team to maintain a high standard of safety performance across the organization.
- Set safety-related performance goals for the team and track progress toward achieving them.
- Provide guidance and direction to team members, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Monitor team compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards, addressing any gaps in performance or adherence.
- Ensure safety and environmental systems follow federal and state OSHA, EPA< NFPA, and environmental regulations.
Essential Duties
- Develop and implement safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, surveys, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with safety coordinators to investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide safety training to all levels of the organization to promote a culture of safety and ensure understanding of safety practices.
- Maintain accurate safety records and generate detailed reports for management on safety performance and incident trends.
- Drive progress toward Volm's corporate sustainability targets, particularly related to packaging, and track performance against external commitments.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to develop the Volm Corporate Sustainability Report, focusing on sustainability efforts across people, production, and products.
- Manage partnerships with key multi-stakeholder initiatives, such as How2Recycle and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.
- Contribute to governmental relations, conducting research and advocacy on issues related to recycling, food waste, infrastructure, and extended producer responsibility.

Education and Experience
- Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and sustainability practices, typically acquired through a bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety, preferably in manufacturing environments
- Completion of OSHA 30 training required
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
- Capability lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects.
- Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.

Becoming a qualified driver includes:
- Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
- When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.
