Position Summary

The Environmental Manager is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and must possess technical proficiency in UDAQ air permitting, federal OOOOa/b compliance, GHG reporting and other CAA emission program elements. Additional responsibilities include leadership and execution of environmental project/process improvement efforts and company initiatives/changes at a regional level. The position may be a first or second level supervisory position and will be responsible for supervising and developing a staff of employees and supervisors and overseeing day-to-day processes and evaluating team's work across multiple disciplines. This position understands the purpose and cross functional impact of processes and has a command of multi-media environmental principles and procedures. In addition to supervisor responsibilities, this position may also encompass technical responsibilities of an EHS Specialist Level V.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities
  • Actively lead, coordinate, and prioritize environmental systems within Utah and work closely with engineering and operations supervisors to assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Serve as a technical and managing lead for SM air program, GHG reporting, ozone non-attainment mitigation efforts and implementation and administration of other air emission reduction programs/expectations.
  • Maintain strong functional knowledge to manage staff overseeing environmental programs and initiatives including Tier II, SPCC, NORM, water/waste management, pollution prevention, reclamation and remediation.
  • Prepare and deliver meaningful environmental information, performance metrics, analysis and advise on areas needing improvement.
  • Stay apprised of new laws and regulations and communicate to upper management and field leaders how environmental and regulatory changes will impact operations and development plans.
  • Participate in local and regional trade groups.
  • Understand EHS actions and stakeholder impacts outside area of responsibility.
  • Lead and/or participate in department or cross functional projects/initiatives.
  • Identify, recommend and implement best practices and improvements to environmental programs.
  • Supervise and provide performance management for staff.
  • Through building collaborative relationships, seek buy in on programs and needed initiatives across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage G&A budget within functional area.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Computer/Software Applications

Proficient computer literacy. Is an expert in the application of common business tools (e.g. Microsoft

Office Suite). Apply conceptual knowledge to environmental and supporting applications. Advanced ability to lead adoption of new and changing systems and applications. Advanced understanding and

application of system support and data governance strategy.

Role-Specific Required Technical Knowledge & Skills

Expert knowledge of CAA, OOOOa/b regulations, Utah air permitting, inspection and compliance requirements; BLM and tribal air and general conformity regulations; GHG reporting requirements; operations process system modeling; facility oil and gas sampling methodologies; foundational knowledge across multimedia including water, waste, SPCC, WOTUS, Tier II, avian protection and NORM; possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as servant leadership and collaborative relationship building.

Required Education: BS degree in environmental science, ecology, biology, chemistry, engineering or related science is required. Professional Environmental Certification or masters preferred.

Required Experience: Minimum of 10 years of oil and gas experience including 7 years of direct air and general environmental experience required. Minimum 3 years' management experience preferred.
