Job Summary
As a leader in the assigned organization, the Environmental Project Specialist Principal is responsible for providing ecological and cultural project permitting and field support for company facilities, including electric transmission and distribution facilities, substations, and other business operations. Responsibilities include providing guidance and other necessary support to business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental project requirements, identifying permit needs and costs, securing contractor support for necessary studies and consultation with local, state, and federal agencies, and coordinating with project management, construction management, engineering, and contractors to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
The Environmental Project Specialist Principal should have an advanced understanding of the following environmental programs:
NPDES Stormwater Construction General Permit
Clean Water Act Section 404/401 Permitting,
National Environmental Policy Act,
National Historic Preservation Act, and
Endangered Species Act.
Key competencies of this position are technical expertise, planning and organization ability, problem solving, written and oral communication skills, and initiative.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions & Tasks
1) Perform environmental compliance and support activities for projects in the assigned region such as planning, scoping, coordinating due diligence with environmental agencies, and preparation of permit applications and technical reports.
2) Interpret regulations and procedures required by external agencies and assist in developing comment packages on draft permits and regulations.
3) Attend routine project site meetings throughout project lifecycle and assist team in managing budget and schedule for compliance activities.
4) Provide guidance and training to environmental technician team members and contracted stormwater inspectors during construction.
5) Provide support during agency site visits, internal project audits, and initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met.
6) Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.
7) Develop and maintain all environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards.
Basic Qualifications
Education requirements: bachelor's degree in an environmental, science, or related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience required.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license
Physical demand ranges from sedentary to light duty.
Must possess advanced knowledge in the competencies of the programs listed in the job summary above.
Travel time ranges from 30% - 60% and will include overnight stays on occasion

Compensation Range:
$96,110.00-124,940.00 USD
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S - Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
