DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that DMVA properties and operations adhere to federal, state, local, and military environmental laws and regulations. This entails close collaboration with National Guard units and various DMVA divisions, including the Adjutant General, engineers, real estate professionals, project managers, and maintenance personnel. Your additional duties will involve ensuring compliance with environmental statutes such as CERCLA and NEPA, preparing and reviewing Environmental Condition of Property documentation, conducting facility compliance assessments, evaluating hazardous materials, researching historical data, and developing GIS maps. Furthermore, this role supports land conservation initiatives at Fort Indiantown Gap and engages with other conservation programs. The Environmental Supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing and training junior staff while assigning tasks accordingly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years as an Environmental Specialist, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of professional environmental protection program experience and a bachelor's degree, which includes 24 credits in the physical, biological, or environmental sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of professional experience and training, which includes 24 college credits in the physical, biological, or environmental sciences.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
