THE POSITION

The Department of Health's Division of Community Epidemiology is seeking a motivated and skilled Epidemiology Research Associate to join our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will contribute to the organization's mission of safeguarding public health by coordinating the collection, analysis, and interpretation of high-quality mixed methods data related to maternal and child health. Your work will be crucial in identifying risk factors, supporting the initiation of public health programs, and guiding program improvements to foster positive health outcomes. You will collaborate with other data and health program experts to communicate findings and actively participate in the ongoing enhancement of maternal and child health initiatives. Utilizing Statistical Analysis System or R software, you will link and analyze various data sources to uncover maternal and child health risks and form program development and improvements. You will have the autonomy to work independently or as part of a team, with your work reviewed periodically, upon completion, or if issues arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of professional experience performing public health or environmental health epidemiological investigations or studies, or designing and managing a disease surveillance system; and a master's degree that includes or is supplemented by six credits in epidemiology, environmental health, statistics, or research.

Other Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of at least one year of SAS or R programming experience which included writing code and performing health related epidemiological analyses.
