Job Summary

The Engineer for Golden Waffles has expertise in both electrical and mechanical engineering to enhance the design, automation, and performance of our waffle irons (bakers). This role focuses on optimizing industrial baker technology, improving automation systems, and integrating PLC programming to ensure maximum efficiency and consistency in production. The ideal candidate must have experience in industrial implementation, system automation, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems in food manufacturing environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize waffle bakers, ensuring precise temperature control, durability, and performance.
  • Lead system automation initiatives to improve the efficiency and consistency of waffle production.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs for baker operation and process automation.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure bakers are operating at peak efficiency.
  • Analyze and improve thermal control systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical components of waffle bakers.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for industrial baking equipment.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maximize output.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards for manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source and integrate the latest automation technologies.
  • Provide technical training and support for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Manage the UL certification processes, including UL standards for industrial and electrical equipment.
  • Interpret and apply safety, compliance, and testing requirements to ensure equipment meets regulatory standards.
  • Hands-on experience working with third-party testing agencies and managing certification documentation.
  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion with prior experience developing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, managing budgets, mitigating risks, communicating updates, and ensuring on-time delivery of engineering solutions.

  • Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial engineering, automation, or food equipment manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering principles, specifically applied to heated equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation systems.
  • Experience with industrial implementation & process optimization in food manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with thermal control, heating elements, and mechanical components in industrial bakers.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for designing and modifying mechanical and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose & repair technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced production environment.
  • Frequent bending, stretching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with industrial baking equipment and heating systems.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing safety standards, including HACCP and GMPs.
  • Experience with robotics and advanced automation solutions in food production.
  • PMP certification.
