Job Description
This role will be required to consult with all stakeholders as required including United States Government representatives and program management personnel as well as all internal BAE production operators, manufacturing supervisors, site leadership, and modernization planners in order to generate conceptual cost estimates for future project funding. The internal stakeholder consultations will often necessitate visiting job sites within the plant in order to collect and analyze data to see the construction site and equipment to be replace or upgraded. The estimator will then provide accurate estimates (Class 5 to Class 3 AACEI) of project costs including construction material costs, construction and construction management labor, equipment procurement and installation costs, utility connection costs, etc.
A cost estimator in this role, the ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of construction and mechanical processes, a good eye for detail, and advanced mathematical skills. An elite cost estimator can see the big picture of a project and accurately estimate all costs involved within the project to Class 3 AACEI or better definition.

Cost Estimator Responsibilities:
- Meeting with stakeholders to discuss the scope and scale of the project.
- Traveling to job sites to gather information on materials, labor, site conditions and other requirements.
- Collaborating with internal and external engineers, contractors, and architects.
- Consulting with industry experts to discuss cost estimates.
- Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved in the project.
- Using computer software to calculate cost estimates (RS means, Sage, online brochures, non-binding quotes or ROMs, etc.).
- Preparing and presenting cost estimates and cost reporting for clients.
- Incorporating estimating experience/judgement of site conditions, changing labor and material rates, etc. into contingencies applied to cost estimates.
- Develop cost benefit analysis documentation that justify business case for projects
- Manage individuals and tasks to develop costs and schedules for estimated projects and P-25s.
Required Skills and Education
- U.S. Citizenship required for site access.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a similar field or technical associate degree and ten years' work experience.
- Proven work experience as a cost estimator.
- Advanced knowledge of construction and engineering processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Proficient with computer estimation software (Means, Sage, etc.)
- Good verbal and written communication skills. This will often include verbal or written explanations of estimate details and written lay-outs of estimate assumptions and
