Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Event-Driven Trading Specialist to join our team, specializing in equities and options spread trading. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coverage and execution of client facing, agency-based flows across an arbitrage spectrum. The ability to manage complex strategies, source liquidity, understand fair value and act quickly in a fast-paced, high-stakes trading environment are essential characteristics.

Key Responsibilities

Trading Execution:
Execute trades across multiple arbitrage strategies, with a focus on equities and options, while ensuring optimal execution, risk management, and adherence to client trading approaches.
Monitor market conditions, sentiment, and news flow in real-time to capitalize on event-driven opportunities.
Leverage advanced trading tools and algorithms to execute trades efficiently.

Event Analysis & Strategy Development:
Understanding of key corporate events and arbitrage strategies (e.g., Corporate Actions, M&A activity, Relative Value opportunities, exchange/rights offers, restructurings, etc).
Develop and implement quantitative and discretionary event-driven trading strategies in equities and options markets.

Risk Management:
Monitor risk exposure and maintain appropriate risk parameters in line with firm policies and market conditions.
Implement hedging strategies and adjust positions as necessary to manage risk associated with specific events or market movements.
Work closely with risk and compliance teams to ensure all trades and strategies align with firm-wide risk limits.

Market Research & Data Analysis:
Develop an understanding of common events and catalysts in order to understand their impact on equities and options.
Collaborate with other desks within the firm to stay ahead of market trends and developments affecting event-driven opportunities.
Use data analytics and proprietary models to improve trade ideas and strategy development.

Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with the desk (sales & trading, analysts) to share insights and communicate potential trading ideas/opportunities.

Qualifications
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in event-driven trading, with a strong focus on equities and options.
A candidate with client relationships is a plus.
Experience with algorithmic and high-touch trading scenarios is a plus.
Clear understanding of event-driven space and the factors that influence strategy pricing within the strategies.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field (advanced degree or CFA preferred).

Skills & Competencies
Expertise in options pricing, derivatives, and hedging techniques.
Proficiency in trading platforms, financial modeling, and market data tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of global equity markets, options markets, and trading structures.
Strong decision-making and execution skills in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across various client bases.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and events.
