Lead the future of reliability at CME Group! We're seeking a visionary and highly experienced Executive Director to lead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) within the CME Group Technology Portfolio. In this critical role, you will define and execute the strategic vision for SRE's, ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our mission-critical electronic trading and clearing platforms. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of technology at a global financial leader, driving innovation and operational excellence in a dynamic and demanding environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Set the Vision: Define and champion the SRE strategy for CME Group's Technology Portfolio, aligning with business objectives and technology roadmaps. Establish clear goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
  • Build and Lead: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of SRE managers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Oversee development, and retention strategies to build a world-class SRE organization.
  • Drive Transformation: Lead the transformation of operational practices, implementing modern SRE principles and methodologies across the organization. Champion the adoption of automation, self-service tools, and other technologies to improve efficiency and reduce operational toil.
  • Influence and Partner: Collaborate closely with senior leadership across technology, product, and business functions to ensure alignment on SRE priorities and initiatives. Build strong partnerships to drive cross-functional collaboration and achieve shared goals.
  • Champion Reliability: Establish and oversee the implementation of Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across all critical systems. Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement in reliability and performance.
  • Manage and Optimize: Oversee the SRE budget and resource allocation, ensuring efficient and effective utilization of resources. Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve:Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in the SRE space. Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools and techniques to enhance the team's capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.


What You'll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in leading and managing SRE teams, preferably in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful SRE strategies.
  • Deep understanding of SRE principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with modern SRE tools and technologies.
  • A passion for technology and a commitment to driving innovation.

The pay range for this role is $209,500-$349,100. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
