Responsible for the production and service of food services at EW Sparrow Hospital and St. Lawrence Campus, to include patient meals and retail.

Work Experience
5 years of food service leadership experience, in hospital/healthcare food service
Education
Associates Degree in Culinary Arts
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Required: Demonstrated ability to navigate complex situations successfully Proactive and creative approach to problem solving Self-motivated Demonstrated critical thinking, organizational and time management skills Fluent ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook.), ordering, inventory and catering programs Extensive knowledge of food production, recipe development and costing, food allergens, and special diets Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated knowledge of food trends and practices, cash handling, development of subordinates, retail and patient food service practices and customer service Food and labour cost control Proven ability to initiate, develop and maintain constructive relationships Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job Preferred: Solid foundation in standard nutritional practices Hospital patient food prep and delivery American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chefs (CECs) are preferred. Experience in retail and catering Bachelor's Degree

- Supervise the performance of kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and distribution of food items
- Lead team in development of menus to not only meet nutritional guideline, but taste and experience goals
- Ensure the quality of food meets expectations
- Serve the health system in the role of Executive Chef, providing vision, leadership and culinary expertise
- Use evidence based best practices to develop goals, projects and initiatives that facilitate the continuous forward progress of the department, as well as support the goals of the health system
- Manage food, labour and supply costs to meet department financial goals
- Must maintain leading edge understanding of culinary practices and service excellence
- Engage the community as appropriate to promote food and nutrition within the health system
- Utilize best practices, trends, as well as innovative and creative approaches to promote enthusiasm for food
- Serve as a mentor to management team, providing education, coaching and discipline as necessary
- Demonstrate and encourage exceptional customer service
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Assist in orientation and training of all new caregivers
- Handles and resolves customer and patient complaints
