The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General is seeking a dynamic leader for the position of Executive Director, Court Services. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Courts and Community Justice Division, this role will provide leadership, expertise, advice, and direction related to court operations and programming.

The ideal candidate must possess the ability to lead a diverse team located around the province. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for collaborating with court stakeholders and maintaining a positive culture.

As the Executive Director, Court Services, you will be responsible for the overall management of the branch, including Court Operations, Sheriff Services, Legal and Policy, and Courts Public and Employee Support.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide strategic direction for the Court Services branch;
  • Lead a large team located across the province to ensure the branch meets its strategic and operational goals;
  • Represent the province in interjurisdictional court matters;
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven leadership and management experience;
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; and,
  • Foster and develop the culture of the branch and invest in the development of Court Services employees.


Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have leadership and management experience in progressively senior roles. Experience working in or with the Courts will be considered an asset. Typically, the knowledge and skills required for the position would be obtained through a Master's Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration or a Law Degree, and experience in public administration, or an equivalent education and experience.
