Provides executive leadership directing a large broad-based multi-sectioned office responsible for facilities operations and management programs; develops, manages, supervises, evaluates, and modifies all activities, programs, projects, personnel, and physical and fiscal resources of the office; provides support to the chief operating officer with decision-making responsibilities for operational functions within the department; is responsible and accountable for strategic planning and outcomes.

Qualifications

Required
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a master's degree in engineering, facilities management, planning, energy management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in facilities maintenance and/or operations, some of which shall have been in a supervisory or leadership role.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and current trends related to facilities operations and management.
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability, carbon neutrality, zero waste, and energy conservation.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, county, and state regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to manage fiscal, physical, and human resources to successfully carry out the function and programs of the office.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, and lead a diversely skilled workforce.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
  • Ability to conduct complex administrative studies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with personnel assigned to schools, other departments, public entities, and citizens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
  • Experience in facilities management in K-12 environment.
  • Experience managing a complex multi-site facilities program.
  • International Facilities Management Association (IFMA).
  • Facility Management Professional (FMP).
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) certification.
