A Brief Overview
The Executive Director, Global Tax leads, manages, and is accountable for accuracy of all financial statement tax accounts including US GAAP, IFRS and local financial statements, ensures compliance with financial statement standards including compliance with SOX, fosters spirit of collaboration with other members of Global tax, Global Finance and Global Valuation, performs tax planning analysis and research, and makes recommendations to minimize tax liability. provides strategic direction and ensures that the tax department is aligned with all other areas of the company to achieve corporate business strategies and vision.

Compensation Range:
$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. What you will do
- Lead and manage monthly, quarterly and annual tax accounting preparation and review processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Ensure tax accounting policies and disclosures are appropriate relevant to SEC requirements
- Proficient in application of ASC 740-10 as it relates to the company. Accountable for accurate tax accounts under US GAAP and local regimes
- Lead and manage area of responsibility including, team/department workflow, establishing and monitoring quality goals, reviewing work completed related to area of responsibility, ensuring timeliness and quality under tight quarterly deadlines
- Lead tax internal controls and ensure they are properly adhered to for SOX compliance
- Develop and maintain relationships with consultants to lead and manage area of responsibility
- Foster positive and engaged work environment. Mentor and coach department members and provide guidance on development.
- Perform tax research and analysis of tax issues to determine tax impact, and make recommendations
- Maintain frequent contact with management and staff associates in finance, valuation, IT, and administration to facilitate strategic objectives are met
- Evaluate, recommend and implement improvement to tax accounting projects
- Complete special projects in areas such as acquisitions, new ventures, sales, new products and other opportunities
- Collaborate with other members of Global Tax leadership team to develop goals/plans/budgets aligning with division and company objectives, and managing to those expectations
- Actively engage in ACLI, study groups, and firm training regarding area of responsibility
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
- 10+ years tax experience
- 8+ years tax accounting experience
- 5+ years supervisory or management experience
- Basic Word, advanced Excel and SQL/Query skills
- Advanced knowledge of broad business practices
- Highly advanced accounting for income tax concepts and broad business practices
- Expert skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under tight quarterly deadlines, including ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
- Advanced persuasion skills when working with internal and external partners to resolve issues/problems
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by internal and external contacts
- Advanced ability to communicate complex tax issues to senior management concisely, and establish credibility and decisiveness
- Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems/issues
- Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating ability to lead, mentor and develop associates
- Highly advanced skills in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions.
- Highly advanced ability to analyze and improve business processes
- Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
- Expert knowledge of tax accounting practices and procedures including GAAP and local accounting methodologies, disclosure and reporting
