Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, the Executive Director of Advancement is responsible for the development, design and implementation of major gift fundraising initiatives that focus on specific strategic program areas for the Stephenson Cancer Center. Works with the Assistant Vice President on all assigned fundraising programs and projects through completion. Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or closely related field and 10 years of fundraising experience, including some in healthcare, academic medicine or cancer research, and a record of significant personal achievement in fundraising required. An understanding of National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute funding mechanisms including the Cancer Center Support Grant (P30), an ability to rapidly grasp and understand complex concepts in cancer research while also being able to communicate those ideas to prospective donors, and knowledge of and experience with Grateful Patient programs preferred.
