Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director of Facility & Support Services acts as the lead representative for the organization's Facility Support Services Division. Has 24/7 accountability for the Construction & Engineering, Bio Medical, Safety & Security, Environmental Services and Food Services departments. Has overall responsibility for the safe operations and maintenance of all buildings and grounds that are owned and/or operated by Marshall Medical Center. Acts as the Safety Officer and is responsible for the Emergency Management program for the organization. Plans, organizes and executes project management efforts related to the construction of new buildings, major and minor renovation of infrastructure and support facilities of the hospital and other organization campuses. Responsible for plant operations and equipment maintenance, facilities and grounds maintenance; the Safety and Security program, Hazardous Materials and Waste program, Environmental and Food Service programs as well as staff supervision, competency and performance. Responsible for the Space Management Committee which manages the space use allocations for the organization. Assumes all financial responsibilities for the departments including department budgets and Construction in Progress (CIP) budget preparation and reconciliation for the organization.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) is required, preferably in the field of electrical, mechanical engineering or construction related field or has 5 years of direct experience working in a healthcare facility in a management capacity in facilities management or support services department.
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration is preferred.
  • Membership in California Society for Healthcare Engineering (CSHE), American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) or American Society of Healthcare Environmental Services associations (AHES) preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) preferred.
  • *Must meet all DMV requirements listed below. A California (B) License is preferred.


Knowledge:
  • Five (5) years of experience in leading the planning, designing and oversight of construction management projects in healthcare facilities.
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable of regulatory agency requirements including Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), NEC and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), California Department of Health Services (CDPH), Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).

  • The ability to operate a personal computer and relevant software, read, analyze and interpret business and professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate construction projects and serve as a liaison between contractors, regulatory agencies and hospital staff members.

These positions require driving as an Essential Job Function, where an alternative means of transportation, such as ride-share or public transportation is not feasible to complete these duties. This may be averaged over the calendar year. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver's License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
