Overview

The Executive Director of Festivals is responsible for leading the strategic planning, execution, and overall management of music festivals while continuing to oversee current contract site operations under the Spectrum brand. This position ensures operational excellence, financial performance, and innovative event design. The role also involves identifying opportunities for growth, developing community partnerships, and maintaining best practices to enhance the organization's reputation and success.

This role pays an annual salary of $115,000 to $125,000 and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and long-term goals for music festivals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, production, and talent acquisition, to deliver high-quality festival experiences.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure best practices are followed and budgets are met for the Sugar Land Festivals.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including artists, vendors, sponsors, and community partners.

Operational Oversight
  • Oversee all aspects of festival planning, including site selection, permitting, logistics, and safety protocols.
  • Continue current contract site operations roles under the Spectrum brand.
  • Ensure the smooth execution of festival operations, including production timelines, staff coordination, and contingency planning.
  • Occasionally serve as the operations or beverage lead for pre-event work and travel for music festivals.

Growth & Business Development
  • Seek out opportunities for growth through existing clients, community investments, or grants.
  • Identify additional contracting opportunities to expand the organization's portfolio.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategic plans for revenue growth and new business opportunities.
  • Stay current with music industry trends to innovate and enhance festival offerings.

Financial Management
  • Develop and manage festival budgets, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor revenue streams, including ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, and concessions, to maximize profitability.
  • Implement cost-control measures while maintaining event quality and attendee satisfaction.

Team Management & Development
  • Hire, train, and mentor festival staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Establish clear goals and performance metrics for team members, providing feedback and support as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to travel frequently and work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during festival season.
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure environments and outdoor conditions during events.


Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in event management, with a focus on large-scale music festivals or live events.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets and delivering profitable events.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
