Campus Shared Services team uses ethical, innovative, and sustainable business practices to provide excellent customer service, convenience, and value to the entire university community. This shared service center focuses on effective, cost efficient, and policy compliant solutions while leading financial oversight and strategy. This department is responsible for establishing and maintaining the fiscal integrity of all units within Bloomington campus auxiliaries reporting to the Vice Provost for Finance and Administration (VPFA) and several additional units within the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life (VPSL) to achieve their goals.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Establishes long-term business plans and long-term strategic objectives.
- Responsible for escalated operational issues, including human resources and/or people management situations.
- Determines overall budget for financial administration teams.
- Develops business relationships across the university and externally. Drives innovation and excellence within the area of financial administration.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the fiscal integrity of all units within Bloomington campus auxiliaries (RC 80) and several additional units within the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life (RC 70).
- Directly oversees financial operations and fiscal strategy for Bloomington campus auxiliaries, including Housing Operations, IU Dining and Hospitality (including the IU Hotel), Campus Bus, Parking Operations, Fleet Services, Transportation Demand Management, and Distribution and Logistics Services (Document Services, IU Warehouse, IU Surplus, and Mail Services), and Early Childhood Education Services.
- Oversees financial operations for Residential Life, Housing Assignments, Bradford Woods, Indiana Memorial Union, the IU Student Health Center, and Recreational Sports.
- Provides strategic guidance to the daily and long-term operations, new initiatives and priorities of business, finance and budget functions for Housing Operations, IU Dining and Hospitality, and other auxiliary enterprises with significant financial authority and fiduciary responsibility, with responsibility for combined budget equaling over $300M.
- Participates in high level and strategic fiscal leadership, policy discussions, and decisions for all auxiliary units with a heavy focus on Housing Operations, IU Dining and Hospitality (including the IU Hotel), as the largest auxiliaries by providing financial leadership and management of a centralized shared services team.
- Works with various leadership in departments inside and outside the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, and the Office of the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration as well as across the university to ensure compliance and coordinated university effort to achieve cohesion amongst auxiliaries and various stakeholders to direct, analyze, forecast, and advise on short- and long-term operational and fiscal issues facing auxiliary units.
- Provides financial analysis, predictive modeling and forecasting, with development of data analytics including executive management dashboards to support data-driven decision-making, and long-term planning and fiscal strategy for campus auxiliaries.
- Reviews campus auxiliary budgets to ensure priorities and standards are met while understanding the large impact on the Bloomington campus and a tangible effect on daily campus operations as well as on student experiences.
- Responsible for analysis and integrity of the capital plan and financial proformas for Housing Operations, IU Dining, and Parking Services. These plans are used for Board of Trustee decision-making related to approval of rates and affect the university's ability to bond projects as well as its bond rating.
- Acts as campus auxiliary representative and university auxiliaries lead in financial discussions with University Administration (UA) offices.
- Directs the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of multiple university units or an unusually large multi-faceted academic, research, and teaching department within a school or college.
- Responsible for accuracy, timelines, and the general integrity of the Financial Administration family, and fiscal, policy, and internal control management.
- Creates annual revenue and expenditure budget for a large school/college. Develops budgetary policies and procedures.
- Develops models and provides recommendations to executive leadership for resource allocations and to enhance financial performance.
- Develops and introduces growth strategies and identifies risks.
- Monitors division and campus budgets and reports any significant deviations from approved budgets.
- Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Directs the management of general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Develops, plans, and directs special projects, which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
- Provides leadership and direction through other managers.
- May oversee and direct variety of human resources activities including employment, labor relations, benefits, training, and classification for unit(s)/campus.

- Excellent negotiation and arbitration skills to adjudicate programmatic and unit disputes over resource and space allocations, and diplomacy and communication skills to be able to work effectively with senior campus leadership and university officials over fiscal matters with significant impact on the campus and university
- Working knowledge of IU financial systems and institutional technology applications is strongly preferred
