ABOUT ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS:
Englewood is a small urban community, approximately 6.5 square miles in size, located near the geographical center of the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. In our state-of-the-art facilities, we offer award-winning programming to 2,400 students. We have one early childhood center, four elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of Technology and Innovation is a creative and dynamic leader charged with developing and implementing a strategic vision in all areas of technology (information and instructional) for the district. They will facilitate the integration of digital tools and best practices into curriculum and administrative systems. Both a big-picture thinker and a hands-on implementer, the Executive Director of Technology and Innovation engages with administrators, educators and support personnel, as well as parents and students, to extend responsible and creative use of technology. The Executive Director of Technology and Innovation must have strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, and the enthusiasm and efficacy to create and sustain instructional momentum in the appropriate use of technology in the district's curriculum and instruction. They must be adept regarding digital security, disaster/recovery, and monitoring changes to the infrastructure configuration. This is a Cabinet-level position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision
  • Oversee, lead, hire and evaluate a team of approximately ten staff members
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the use of technology in the district in both the academic and infrastructural systems
  • Oversee project management of all technology related applications
  • Attend conferences, trainings, and other professional development to remain current on educational technology innovations and advancements
  • Promotes a culture of belonging

Vision
  • Create a vision for technology that aligns with the Englewood Schools Strategic Plan
  • Maintain knowledge of and communicate current research findings and forecasts related to the effective use of technology in the school's educational program
  • Create and implement a vision for AI in Englewood Schools
  • Implement a vision that aligns with PK-12 STEAM programming
  • Create a vision and plan for disaster recovery of IT systems Information Technology Infrastructure and Software Leadership
  • Ensure all systems are working on the front and back end, which includes but is not limited to the network, Infinite Campus, ParentSquare, and Clever.
  • Create systems for the maintenance and management of student Chromebooks, educator Macs and PCs. Managing the Webhelpdesk ticket system for technology requests
  • Ensure all IT security and safety systems at all sites, undergo regular testing and are in working order (Genetec - including cameras, lockdown and lockout buttons, door releases, etc.)
  • Address safety concerns by working with the staff, students, and community to ensure compliance with district-wide safety and emergency protocols
  • Oversee and manage communication systems (routers, internet, phone system, communications systems with emergency departments, etc)
  • Create and maintain systems to protect Personally Identifiable Information or PII
  • Manage technology systems at Board meetings
  • Research and evaluation of educational hardware and software
  • Manage compliance with current laws, including HB21-1110 for accessibility
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of state and district-mandated assessments as the District Technology Coordinator
  • Direct and sustain advancements in areas including, but not limited to: information systems, application development, e-mail, WebHelpDesk, and document management
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy

Instructional Technology
  • Co-create and oversee the implementation plan of instructional technology in the PK-12 learning environment
  • Collaborate with PK-12 STEAM teachers to ensure programming alignment with CTE pathways
  • Implement responsible and meaningful use of AI by students and staff
  • Plan and implement a District-wide learning management system
  • Provide expertise and supervision when implementing instructional and non-instructional technology standards
  • Serve as an instructional leader by monitoring and contributing to the implementation of professional development
  • Coach and encourage others in the use of educational technology to enhance achievement

Budget and Procurement/Contracts
  • Manage a budget of approximately $1.2 million
  • Create and manage a 5-year capital improvement plan
  • Manage and execute on procurement and manage vendors
  • Apply and administer grants, including E-Rate
  • Solicit and manage RFPs, including for dark fiber
  • Negotiating contracts and managing contract renewals
  • Community and Collaboration
  • Develop positive working relationships with students, staff, and community partners
  • Collaborate as a member of Cabinet
  • Demonstrate positive support and understanding by participating in the school and/or district improvement process, including the Long Range Planning Committee
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree in Education or Computer Science (required)
  • Principal and/or administration experience (preferred)
  • Extensive experience with PK-12 educational technology integration, and development of technology systems that support instruction and management systems
  • Demonstrated experience in managing voice, data, computer architecture, and video communications systems utilizing various infrastructure components and technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in design, costing, implementation, and maintenance of technology and instructional systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing data systems including familiarity with WAN/LAN environments
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of document and data archive, retrieval, transport and retention
  • Demonstrated experience in Mac, Chromebook and PC server platforms and virtualization
  • Demonstrated experience leading professional development and coaching
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and evaluating employees
  • Familiar with Genetec
  • Bilingual (preferred)
  • English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.

REPORTS TO:

SALARY:
Range: $115,000 - $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
