About the Opportunity
Inalab has an immediate opening for an Exhibition Specialist to support Department of State.
Duties Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain exhibition records (content files such as outlines, scripts, images, and labels), design files (exhibit space plans, samples, schedules, exhibit drawings and graphic elevations, AV design drawings and specifications, lighting design drawings and specifications), and media (concepts, treatments, final production files) using NMAD's office file management system and process
- Oversee the exhibition process through maintaining official exhibit records (meeting notes, schedules, official exhibition communications involving reviews/comments/approvals, milestone packages, and bid sets) for exhibitions including media development and production, primary manager of exhibition projects in Asana database
- Serve as a fabricator/exhibits specialist who coordinates external production and development of exhibition projects that include elements such as structurally and architecturally accurate casework, components, artifact mounts, graphics, lighting, and other elements designed to enhance the museum exhibition of valuable artifacts.
- Interpret and analyze exhibition-related design drawings, specifications and details and develop recommended fabrication and production methods that are appropriate for projects and the display of artifacts or art works.
- Create /manage digital images and text files for graphic panels, posters, signs, labels, decals, and other visual media ranging in size from several inches to room-size murals.
- Assist with the install and deinstall of temporary and permanent exhibition graphics and cases (i.e. movement of artifacts, artifact condition reporting, artifact documentation and records management, temporary artifact mount installation, and artifact deinstallation; coordination of final digital artwork, graphic reviews/approvals, graphic production orders, graphic install, and graphic deinstall of temporary exhibit graphics)
- Generate daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term lists and tasks for refurbishment of existing exhibits and coordinate execution of all exhibit refurbishment and maintenance needs.
Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- Experience managing the development, planning, fabrication, and installation of exhibit components and associated media/AV systems/lighting with external contractors for a museum or similar cultural institution;
- Experience providing regular maintenance activities and/or oversight of maintenance contracts for existing exhibit components.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.

- Detail and deadline oriented.
- Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management.
