Oakland County - Extrusion Engineer

Position Summary

The Extrusion Engineer is a technical consultant ideally with some hands-on experience with the extrusion process, focusing on extruded polymers (mono and multi-layer) products.

Key Functions and Responsibilities of the Extrusion Engineer

• Act as a Technical Consultant in specialization for products and processes.
• Lead Product Design & Development.
• Identify design solutions necessary to meet engineering, manufacturing and financial targets.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date engineering records according to APQP and QMS requirements.
• Identify and communicate design, materials, and specifications.
• Initiate and implement suggestions for continuous improvement.
• Work as part of the design and development team by providing design and analysis direction.
• Participate with Manufacturing Division to form multidisciplinary team for review of both product and process designs and ensure that DFM&A requirements are met.
• Meet with customers 1:1 within the scope of the PD&D process.
• Use broader knowledge base to take on more complicated assignments.
• Focus of role is on extruded polymer (monolayer & multi-layer) products.

Required Education, Skills and Abilities of the Extrusion Engineer

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree
• Hands on experience with the extrusion process highly preferred
• Primarily onsite position
