Job Overview

As the Facilities and Equipment Manager at Austin Fitness Group, you must have a passion for customer service, creativity, attention to detail, professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude. The Facilities and Equipment Manager role is focused on three areas of the business: Asset Management, Construction Management and Facilities Repair and Maintenance Support. Successful candidates help to ensure all locations provide an exceptional member experience with minimal disruption due to facilities and or equipment issues. You will provide guidance and training through regular club visits and training sessions, manage outside contractors, and oversee facility processes. This position requires availability for in-person and remote work, as well as occasional domestic travel, and reports to the VP of Finance and Accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively teach, mentor, and lead facility needs remotely, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear, effective communication with executive management, regional area management, and club operations personnel to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Strategically identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key outside vendors, securing top-tier services for cleaning, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more.
  • Actively communicate and coordinate with landlords to manage and expedite major repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Implement and uphold rigorous quality assurance standards across all facilities, ensuring a superior environment for members.
  • Engage closely with cross-functional teams to drive facility-related initiatives and achieve organizational goals.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve facility processes; effectively train studio management on these processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Oversee and manage the timely repair and replacement of equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and member satisfaction.
  • Take charge of specific aspects of studio merchandise needs, ensuring alignment with brand standards and operational requirements.
  • Oversee subcontractors and overall project status during studio openings, relocations, and closures.


Required Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • 3-4 years of experience in facility management and maintenance, along with relevant certifications (PMP, CFM, OSHA).
  • In-depth knowledge of major mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and the ability to diagnose and address maintenance issues.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems, architectural drawings, and basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing concepts.
  • Skilled in project coordination, scheduling, & evaluating bids, estimates, & invoices from vendors.
  • Proficient in budget interpretation, providing financial recommendations, and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong commitment to customer service and maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive training programs and implementing process improvements.
  • Adaptable and responsive, capable of independent problem-solving in a dynamic work environment.
  • Collaborative team player, able to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Based in Austin, Texas, preferred but not required, with potential domestic travel up to 20%.
