Principal Responsibilities:
The Reba & Sam Sandler Family Campus is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Director to oversee the operations, maintenance, security, and shared services of our community campus. This role ensures a safe, functional, and cost-effective environment that supports a variety of community programs. The Facilities Director will manage assets, supervise staff, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with all regulations. This position requires flexibility, as the Facilities Director is on call as needed.
Key Responsibilities
1) Administration& Financial Management
SupervisesCampus management team and specific JCC directors in accordance with humanresources.
Developsoperating procedures and oversees facility records.
Incoordination with the CFO, prepares and manages operating and capital budgets.
Negotiatesvendor contracts, manages billing, space usage rates, and financial reporting.
Serves asa member of the UJFT/JCC leadership team, working collaboratively withcolleagues and staffing appropriate UJFT/JCC board committees including theCampus Management Committee and Wellness/Membership Committee.
2) Maintenance& Operations
Implementsand oversees preventive maintenance schedules for all building systems (HVAC,plumbing, electrical, pool equipment, etc.).
Conductsfacility inspections, coordinates repairs, and ensures safety compliance.
Manageslandscaping for the Campus, cemeteries, and other properties.
Maintainsup-to-date records on facility maintenance, key control, and safety compliance.
3) FacilityUsage & Development
Overseesshared spaces, resident agency communication, and project management forrenovations.
Reviewsand approves resident agency proposals for facility modifications.
Manageskey distribution and facility access.
4) Security& Compliance
Directssecurity operations, monitors alerts, and coordinates with the Secure CommunityNetwork (SCN) Regional Security Advisor and law enforcement.
Enforcesaccess procedures, background checks, and event security.
Maintainscompliance with safety regulations and insurance requirements.
Implementsemergency preparedness plans and conducts safety drills.
5) InformationTechnology (IT) Oversight
SupervisesIT operations and ensures security measures are upheld.
Maintainstechnology infrastructure and oversees system updates.
Managesnetwork security, software, and hardware needs for the facility.
6) FoodService/Catering Oversight
Overseesfood service operations, ensuring compliance with Kashrut and health standards.
Managesvending services and related equipment.
7) SimonFamily JCC Membership & Wellness Management
Overseesaquatics, sports, and fitness program directors, optimizing operations andrevenue streams.
Supervisesmembership recruitment and retention efforts.
8) JewishLife & Community Engagement
SupportsJewish traditions, holiday celebrations, and campus-wide observances.
OverseesCampus art acquisitions and aesthetic standards.

The Simon Family JCC started life as the Tidewater Jewish Community Center in 1952. It was located on Spotswood Avenue in Norfolk from 1952 1966. It then moved to Newport Avenue in Norfolk, where it remained until 2004. In 2004, the current campus in Virginia Beach opened its doors. Throughout its history, the JCC has been a center for the entire community, providing a family-friendly environment where we can all stay healthy, body and mind. Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior leadership facilities role.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and time-management skills with experience leading capital improvements.
- Valid driver's license.
- Working knowledge of procurement and contracts.
- Familiarity with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with pool operations and maintenance is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new software systems.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Food Service Manager (Virginia Department of Health).
- Commercial Swimming Pool Operator (Virginia Department of Health).
- Standard First Aid and AED/CPR.
- Additional certifications as required for operations oversight.
