Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies.

What does the job involve?

Summary:Supervises the activities of the Maintenance Department in such a manner that production departments maintain production at an economical cost in accordance with planned schedules and quality standards. Responsible for the oversight of all facility functions and activities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following and all other duties as may be assigned. Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Perform, coordinate, and supervise the duties of the maintenance staff, including participation in the review and evaluation of work assignments for completion and compliance; make recommendations for improvements and modifications.
  • Work with the VP of Operations and the production team to resolve maintenance issues in a timely
  • manner with minimal disturbance to factory output; develop and maintain schedules for preventative
  • Oversight of all facility functions and activities including but not limited to:
  • Development of clear project goals and construction schedules for time, cost, and scope with realistic milestones.
  • Direct and plan the efforts of diversified functions such as general building maintenance, machine repair, machine rebuild, electrical, machine development, safety and environmental controls.
  • Plan direct and control the operations involved with heat, power and electricity to the facility and provide construction status and updates.
  • Additional duties associated with the facility expansion as identified.
  • Coordinate the preparation of and monitor punch lists indicating items requiring additional work, coordinate all required facility inspections, approve final "as built" drawings, and coordinate the placement and movement of all required equipment.
  • Coordinate the overall planning and decision-making for maintaining the safety, utilities, machinery and appearance of the facility.
  • Develop, manage, approve and track all budgets costs to ensure budget
  • Prepare and/or coordinate work orders and bids/estimates for all work to be performed by outside contractors and vendors. Ensure all outside contractors follow all established safety guidelines and use proper PPE.
  • Oversee safety compliance throughout entire facility and all new construction, renovation and improvements.
  • Ensure that proper permits and regulations are being followed in all projects; communicate with insurance carrier to ensure that all facilities, equipment and property are adequately insured.
  • Develop and maintain a plan for 24-7 coverage relating to facility usage, maintenance, safety, security, and emergencies.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance records for all equipment including MSDS documents; maintain a facility keying system and master keying record of all keys issued to and retrieved from employees.
  • Oversee and manage the HAZ MAT Program including chemical receipt/disposal, waste disposal, storage, training and record keeping.
  • Oversee the variety of work with maintenance which includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding and mechanical troubleshooting and repair.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 7 years of Maintenance experience in a production environment and/or or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a leadership role managing in a union environment required.
  • A bachelor's degree is highly desirable.
  • 2 years of Knowledge of Maintenance Work Order systems (CMMS)
  • Manufacturing experience in a high and low-volume facility
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and machine prints with mechanical and electrical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and safety
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, DC Drives, Pump stations,
  • Familiarity with general manufacturing processes and lean methodologies (Kaizen/5S/Six Sigma)
  • Strong social and organizational skills
  • Exceptional listening and communication abilities
  • General understanding and use of Microsoft Work Packages. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarization with Union guidelines
Tools used:
  • Effectively use a variety of hand and power tools, operate a forklift and skid loader.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
