Essential Functions
- Teach courses in music at the baccalaureate level including both upper- and lower-division music courses with opportunity to teach graduate students in our Individualized Master of Arts Program. Teaching needs to be determined in consultation with program director or department chair based on contract term (9-month appointment is 24-units).
- Courses will vary depending on the area of specialization, but will include GE courses, core music major courses, ensembles, lessons, and other courses in area of specialization.
- Curriculum development as needed, including collaborative efforts across programs and GE.
- Participate in departmental and university meetings, activities, and areas of service.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate students with majors in music, music education, or related areas.
- Actively work with enrollment management to recruit new students in the music performance arts and to engage local partners for the purpose of advancing enrollment building strategies.
- Pursue an active scholarly agenda (which may include performance) consistent with expertise.
- Potential to serve as the program coordinator/director with commensurate faculty load for program administration.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving and inspiring students in an academic context that integrates your Christian faith and learning.

Qualifications
Required:
- Earned master's degree in music or related field of study.
- Experience in, or aptitude for, college-level teaching.
- Ability to work harmoniously with students and faculty colleagues in a regional university with its foundation in the liberal arts and sciences.
- Ability to network with community partners and collaborate with Enrollment on strategies for new student recruitment into the Music program.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to cross cultures and to understand and advance diversity.
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the University's mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.
Preferred:
- Earned terminal degree in music or related field of study (ABD candidates will be considered; completion of a terminal degree is a requisite for continued employment).
- Areas of specialization are open, but preference is given to candidates with a background in one or more of the following: choral conducting, music education, worship music, music technology, vocal music, musical theater, and/or msica regional mexicana.
- The ability to teach in Spanish.
- Familiarity with First Year Experience programs and courses.
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
