Position Summary:

The Falck Health Institute is seeking an EMS Faculty to join our education team. EMS faculty work under the Falck Health Institute Director and collaborate closely with Chief Medical Officer, adjunct instructors, and the management team within the Falck Health Institute.

As a critical member of our education team, you will contribute to a high-functioning team that supports the initial education, continuing education, and research operations at the Falck Health Institute. The successful candidate will support all aspects of the program, including coordinating, developing, and providing lectures in the EMT primary, hybrid, and continuing education programs, collaborating on the development and delivery of psychomotor skills, supporting the clinical/field internship portion of the program, and innovating and researching learning methodology and clinical practice. You will also provide education and training to advanced life support providers including paramedics and nurses who are members of the mobile health program.

EMS Faculty will be student advocates in the learning process, create an active learning environment, and maintain a high level of industry competence. Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 annual

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver initial EMT education content through lectures, case studies, small group discussions, the Socratic method, and activity-based learning both in-person and online.
  • Demonstrate and deliver EMT skill instructions to small groups of students.
  • Support student success through individual and small group study sessions and tutoring.
  • Assist students in organizing and reviewing course-required health documents.
  • Create an active, safe learning environment.
  • Deliver mobile care training through lectures, case studies, small group discussions, the Socratic method, and activity-based learning both in-person and online.
  • Deliver continuing education courses developed by the American Heart Association and National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Work in conjunction with the Health Institute Director and Administrator to interface with prospective students.
  • Represent the Falck Health Institute at local, state, national, and international meetings and conferences.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:
Current licensure as a(n) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Ability to obtain accreditation in the County of Orange.
Evidence of completion of an EMS Instructor course that meets the Department of Transportation educational framework from the 2002 National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors
Minimum of five (5) years EMS work experience on an ambulance, fire department or in a hospital emergency department.
Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in emergency medical services or equivalent health care setting.
Previous experience coordinating, delivering, and evaluating education courses.
Working knowledge and formal training in education theory and the use of simulation to meet learning objectives.
Detailed knowledge and skill in prehospital care procedures and techniques.
Working knowledge of EMT and Paramedic and related program course policies, objectives, and requirements.
Detailed knowledge of initial and recertification training programs.
Detailed knowledge of all pertinent provider level skills and the ability to provide instruction of same including being able to perform and effectively teach required skills.
Excellent communication and instructional presentation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts.
Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with attention to detail and minimal direction.
Proven experience demonstrating organizational, multi-tasking, and "follow through" skills.
Interpersonal skills to excel in relations with supervisors, staff, students, and the public.
Skill in working and collaborating effectively as part of a team
Excellent ability to communicate and work cohesively across Department lines.
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information when necessary.
Ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
Strong organization skills and attentiveness to detail.
Flexible and adaptable, willing and able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
Knowledge of PC usage and general office software operations
Preferred: paramedic in the State of California (or ability to obtain licensure) or nationally registered paramedic.
Preferred: Baccalaureate degree in health-related field, education, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services, or a related field.
Preferred: National Association of EMS Educators Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor Certification.
