Our growing law firm is looking to hire an experienced family law attorney who is fiercely passionate about representing clients facing one of the most challenging times in their lives. Candidates should be adept at preparing necessary legal documents in connection with initiating and finalizing divorces, child support/child custody, and real estate.
This job is fully remote in the state of Washington, so candidates should be comfortable working in a remote setting.
Attorneys will be responsible for providing legal advice, conducting research, negotiating, and handling family law cases related to divorce. Additionally, the role involves working with clients to reach agreements and resolutions through collaborative methods.
Our ideal candidate enjoys meeting new people and would like to handle potential client-paid consultations. In addition to managing their own caseload, they enjoy teaching and can jump in to help others on the team when complex issues come up or when complex court dates (i.e., trials, mediations, hearings) are coming up.
A current Washington State Bar certification and working knowledge of Washington State family law are required for this position.
For candidates that have a strong network in the area and would look forward to networking on our behalf to bring in cases, we also offer a rainmaker bonus and would receive a percentage of whatever the firm brings in on cases generated.

Responsibilities
Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases
Qualifications
4-year degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are necessary for this position
Current Washington State Bar certification
Knowledge of Washington State family law
Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
Ability to successfully represent both the plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
At least 5 years of working in a law firm on family law issues, as well as real estate (determining marital property), is necessary.
