Our law group is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent clients in all areas of family law. You'll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. Responsibilities
Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for various cases
Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases
Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
Qualifications
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of MD (strong consideration for licensure in DC)
Prior experience representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediation required
Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with management of support staff and interpersonal skills
Great legal research skill is a must
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association)
Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred
