Essential Job Duties:
- Provide client-facing technical consulting on program compliance, policy, and procedures.
- Manage projects, as needed, using company standard project management principles.
- Review projects to identify and develop hazard mitigation proposals.
- Perform visits to site inspections to identify possible mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with various staff and State Officers.
- Provide guidance on the FEMA Sections 404, 406, BRIC, FMA, and PDM Hazard Mitigation Programs as well as the HUD CDBG-MIT program.
- Assist technical team with development and review of benefit cost analysis.
- Advise on grant and sub-grant applications to ensure to maximize mitigation participation and funding.
- Optimize procedures and maintains communication and focus.
- Maintain and track cases assigned and provides input where necessary in the data management information system.
- Review project work sheets to ensure appropriate mitigation measures are included.
- Possess an excellent customer service skill set and ability to listen and facilitate work through completion.
- Collaborate with the Mitigation Director to provide direction for the mitigation program.
- Provide direction on increasing efficiency and consistency in mitigation projects utilizing best practices.
- Provide oversight on mitigation staff on assigned projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in mitigation at FEMA, State, Local Level, or private consulting.
- Prior leadership experience of mitigation programs and mitigation team.
- Knowledge of Federal and State Mitigation programs and initiatives, including HMGP, BRIC, FMA, and CDBG-MIT.
- Knowledge and experience with engineering principles and practices as they relate to HM programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a changing work environment.
- Able to work independently and / or on a team.
- Strong organizational and research skills.
- Comfortable interacting with clients and client stakeholders.
- Proficient computer skills: including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat.
