The Fibernet Network Architect Contractor will provide technical analysis, design, project, and operational support for FiberNET. The contractor will assist in defining current and future network standards and recommendations based on the Client's mission requirements. The primary responsibility will be as a technical expert on several enterprise-wide projects, including reviewing, analyzing, documenting, and recommending improvements to the Client's existing Cisco MPLS routed network and architecture ("FiberNet 3"), a location-wide DWDM replacement project, and an Enterprise Hardware Refresh project. The contractor will also be heavily involved in the deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis of Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Wireless infrastructure services to deliver voice, video, and data applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical analysis and support for FiberNET.
  • Define and recommend network standards based on the Client's mission requirements.
  • Serve as a technical expert on enterprise-wide projects, including FiberNet 3, DWDM replacement, and hardware refresh projects.
  • Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and analyze WAN, LAN, and Wireless infrastructure services.
  • Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain the Client's Enterprise Networking Infrastructure.
  • Develop documentation, standards, and process models for implementation, projects, and operational support.
  • Create network staff training materials, network diagrams, procedures, change processes, and general documentation.
  • Cover after-hours, weekend, and holiday work as required.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Design and solutions deployment of resilient, high-speed Enterprise network segments.
  • Experience with internetworking technologies (OSI Reference Model, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN's, link aggregation, encapsulation, and encryption, DNS/DHCP, CoS/QoS, VoIP, GLBP/VRRP/HSRP, SNMP, NetFlow).
  • Experience with Enterprise routing technologies (EIGRP/EIGRPng, OSPF/OSPFng, NHRP, mBGP/IBGP/EBGP, VRFs, static routing, route redistribution, PBR/FBF, & route summarization).
  • Expert knowledge of WAN standards, topologies & carrier broadband technologies specifically using Cisco core routers (TIA/EIA/ISO/IEEE, PPP, Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS VPN, DMVPN, MetroE, DSX, T-Carrier, SONET, & High-Speed Internet).
  • Expert knowledge of LAN technologies (GigabitEthernet (100/40/10/2/1), PoE, link aggregation (PAgP, LACP, VPC/VSS), CDP/LLDP, NTP, CAM/ARP, RTP/SRTP/RTCP, Spanning Tree [mSTP/Rapid-PVST+], QoS, NetFlow).
  • Expert knowledge of tunneling and encryption/encapsulation technologies (DMVPN, IPsec, mGRE/GRE, SSL/TLS).
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise addressing & design (IPv4/IPv6, Private/Public addressing, VLSM, NAT/PAT/SNAT, & Overlay subnets).
  • Working knowledge of ATM protocols including AAL1 and AAL2 technologies (Preferred: Knowledge of GDC product line including DV2 generation equipment).
  • Knowledge of basic power distribution and protection systems (AC/DC).
  • Experience in creating network staff training materials, network diagrams (Microsoft Visio), procedures, change processes, and general documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Element & Network Management Systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Wireless Networking (design, deployment, & operational support/troubleshooting).

Certifications:
  • Cisco (Architect, CCIE R+S/DC/SP/Sec/Collaboration, CCDP w/Experience (R+S/DC/SP/Sec/Collaboration/Wireless)).
