About This Role
We are seeking a talented and creative team member to join SEIU 775 Field Department. The deputy director is a senior level management position in the field department working alongside the other leadership positions within the department. The deputy director is responsible for maintaining our member leadership, overseeing union wide events, and effectively overseeing campaigns geared toward achieving the goals of our union, and managing other department needs.
We are a dynamic and fast-paced organization, unafraid to try new ways of doing things. The deputy director will help lead a department including a team of organizers, member volunteers, and make strategy decisions. The position will work closely with our allies, community partners and other innovative, bold, and progressive team members to help lead the way into growing our union.

Compensation
Providing current or previous salary information is optional and will not be factored into hiring decisions. Prospective Employees covered by the CBA can request a copy of the wage scale, the CBA, and any current relevant MOUs upon application to the position.
This position is full-time, exempt. This position is not included in the Bargaining Unit. Pay ranges from $115,344 - $144,049 per year. Benefits include vacation, holiday, and sick leave benefits, fully employer paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance, defined benefit pension plan, and optional 401(k), WFH credit, and more.

The position will work closely with our allies, community partners and other innovative, bold, and progressive team members to help lead the way into growing our union.
Essential Functions:
- Support and at times lead the Union's members facing strategic campaigns, including member leadership development, union membership sign-ups, Race and social justice, and worker solidarity, etc.
- Led internal staff in campaign planning, campaign management, and campaign strategy often moving multiple complex plans simultaneously
- Develop long-term strategic goals and overall organizing strategy, in collaboration with the Field Director and other senior leadership staff
- Responsible for major event planning and led member recruitment and participation for WA Homecare, bringing creative and innovate ideas to best serve the needs of our members
- Oversee the Union's statewide member new employee union time program and member lost-time programs including tracking and analyzing data, strategy development, member leadership development, and monitoring allocation of resources
- Create and implement systems and metrics for the organizing and member lost-time teams
- Provide regular supervision, support, and training to organizers, coordinators, and managers with special attention to staff development and fostering sustainable organizing culture
- Represent SEIU 775 in various coalitions, community spaces, and with other stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Basic computer literacy and willingness and ability to learn the organization's technology tools
- Ability to plan and create long-term strategies and understanding of field campaigns
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and strong personal planning, motivation, and ability to work well and work creatively under tight deadlines
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently and capacity to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in campaign planning with at least 10 years of union, political, or community organizing background on internal and/or external campaigns
- At least 5 years of experience supervising teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds and wide range of skills sets
- Proven commitment to progressive social change, building anti-racist movements and a high level of dedication or commitment to working with long term care workers and/or low wage workers
- High level of leadership, judgement, and ability to manage multiple campaigns, programs, and projects simultaneously
- Running leadership development programs with attention to teaching and curriculum development
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours when needed to campaign needs
- A valid driver's license, car, and automobile insurance
- Preferences: Fluency in a second language is plus. Experience working with a labor union, progressive non-profit, community organization, advocacy group, political campaign or elected official is a plus. Knowledge and experience with Salesforce, Microsoft office and teams is a plus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time, exempt position. As a Full-Time, Exempt employee you are not eligible for overtime. Hours of operation will depend on what you and your supervisor agree to. Must have flexibility in schedule during extended business hours allowing stakeholders to access services. From time to time, the Field Deputy Director may be expected to participate in Union activities outside of normal business hours, including weekends and after-hours.
- This position is 75% remote, 25% at HQ Seattle. The position is normally required to be in the office at least two (2) days weekly, or when needed (based on business needs). Department Director has the ability to depict work schedules.
