JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. For work specific to Colorado Springs, JT4 supports the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) -- Electronic Domain portion of the range.

Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties

Under general supervision of a senior-level engineer, a Field Engineer II performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks involved in the installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems.

The Field Engineer will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of systems in support of the Transportable Range Operations Center (TROC) and associated/related sub-systems and equipment to support Space Range Squadrons and range users. The Field Engineer II will facilitate smooth transitions of new TROC capabilities from the JT4 TROC Project team to the Operations and Maintenance team for employment on the range.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:
  • Conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information
  • Comply with policies and procedures governing the preparation, configuration, deployment, operations,
  • maintenance, and sustainment of the TROC systems, whether in fixed site or deployed locations
  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects. This will include all of our mission areas ranging from the Space Range Operations Center, Range Close Loop Environment, and Transportable Range Operations Center.
  • Support may be requested to design, develop, and integrate emerging capabilities for Orbital Warfare, Electronic Warfare, Cyber and Digital capabilities.
  • Keep informed of and study currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty
  • Perform engineering or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character
  • Plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations
  • Support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared
  • Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects
  • Using computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems
  • Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings
  • Other job duties as assigned


Desired Qualifications
  • A working knowledge of Frequency Division Multiple Access and Time Division Multiple Access satellite routed signals/networks to include any teleport and distant end configuration of various very small aperture terminal systems manufacturers
  • Practical knowledge of satellite communications (SATCOM) theories to include directional antennas, high power amplifiers, up/down converters, feed horns, satellite communications payloads, and other equipment used in transmitting and receiving SATCOM
  • Desired previous experience as a former SATCOM technician, space range operations, and/or electromagnetic warfare operator
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance is preferred


Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience

An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 7 years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer II must possess the following qualifications:
  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields
  • Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills.


Salary

The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000 annually.

Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Some shift work required during range events. Range events may be conducted from fixed facilities or mobile assets at various range user sites across the world.

***Travel to remote company work locations is required for event and maintenance support that can last days to weeks. Occasional weekend, holiday, and off hours work may be required in support of mission execution.
