Field Manager - Data Center Manager

SUMMARY

Direct Line is a rapidly growing global technology services company specializing in design, integration, installation, maintenance, and managed services for renowned data centers and technology firms. We are seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, and passionate Superintendent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision.

As the Field Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with operations management, project management, human resources, and safety departments to streamline and develop processes related to payroll, technician onboarding, tracking adherence to technician union handbook, performance monitoring, and attendance. In this role, you will liaise with DLU, safety, logistics, and executive management to plan and execute scheduled training sessions for union personnel. Additionally, you will coordinate with Marketing and partners at Direct Line local offices to schedule sponsored events. Creating, implementing, and overseeing procedures for tracking personnel PTO, vehicle maintenance/logging, performance warnings, timecard adherence and efficiency, as well as logging and addressing behavioral issues will be central to your responsibilities. You will also be responsible for workforce planning, resource allocation and coordination, providing technical guidance to technicians, ensuring adherence to safety standards, optimizing productivity, maintaining schedules, upholding quality compliance, and demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the union contract.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the Pre-Construction process, ensuring awareness of available resources.
  • Participate in staffing reviews for projects.
  • Field HR Complaints and work with staff to overcome specific issues along with the Operations Managers and HR.
  • Assist in creating the Pre-Construction manpower schedule.
  • Offer input in the pre-bid process, as necessary.
  • Oversee and schedule technician manpower across assigned geographies.
  • Administer and adhere to union contract regulations for lay-offs and recalls.
  • Maintain a process for leads or foremen to report daily timecards.
  • Follow up on late reporting of timecards.
  • Hold team members accountable for the maintenance and upkeep of Direct Line fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager on man loading scheduling, budgeting hours, and staging materials.
  • Keep abreast of the full scope of work for each project.
  • Communicate any work order changes to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors, leveraging safety support personnel as a resource.
  • Strive for Zero Injury on all projects, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Support and manage leads with on-site safety meetings.
  • Review and communicate the safety program and MSDS information during start-up meetings.
  • Identify and correct safety hazards at the jobsite, promptly reporting all safety incidents to the VP of Operations, Project Manager, and safety personnel.
  • Review plans, specifications, and construction schedules for constructability and identify any issues or deficiencies to the project team in reference to manpower
  • Mentor and train other employees.
  • Manage and complete paperwork and processes outlined in the Field Career Progression program.
  • Participate and have knowledge in determining the sequence and duration of activities on schedules for proposed projects.
  • Forecast manpower allocation for future work.
  • Identify potential project leads.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and project teams throughout the project(s).
  • Advise and collaborate closely with Direct Line University in the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Work with teams on promotions and employee development with Operations Managers

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience or equivalent role.
  • Possession of OHSA 30 certification.
  • Must meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements.
  • Must fulfill all necessary criteria for proper badging and access to jobsites as required by clients.
  • Familiarity with construction management software is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of, spreadsheets, and cost control purposes.
  • Collaborative team player with experience working alongside field supervision, project management, and company administration staff.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize team efforts effectively.
  • Strong client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Capacity to motivate, lead, and boost morale within teams.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to handle pressure and perform well in high-stress situations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across multiple sites.
  • Strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set goals and tasks, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
