Overview:
Pembina Pipeline's Conventional and Oilsands Business Unit (COBU), is hiring a Field Operations Engineer to join the team. Reporting the Supervisor, Field Operations Engineering, the individual would be located in the Sherwood Park Alberta Office. They will employ their technical expertise, business knowledge, and problem-solving skills to start, guide, and assist in providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operational solutions.
This role requires collaboration with Operations, Calgary-based Operations Engineering, COBU Project Engineering, other internal teams, vendors, and external engineering resources. There will be travel expected (25%) with this position away from home office (Sherwood Park).
Pembina's Conventional and Oilsands pipeline assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various hubs and terminals. This network transports crude oil, condensate and NGL across much of Alberta and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota.

This position is considered "Safety Sensitive" and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver's Abstract.
Pembina's Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- First point of contact for core operational engineering activities;
- Troubleshooting and optimizing performance of equipment;
- Vibration analysis/resolution;
- Reliability assessments; and
- Failure Analysis.
- Evaluating technical aspects of operational deviations;
- THA reviews; and
- ORAs.
- Leading screening, prioritization, and up-front scoping of operations engineering notifications/change requests;
- Delivering MOC Opex Projects, from establishing scope and delivery of EWPs, through to participation in commissioning/handover, and closeout processes; and
- Support pipeline/facility integrity programs.
- Troubleshooting and optimizing performance of equipment;
- Participate in system reviews, optimization, and development engineering activities;
- Lead significant process safety incident investigations and mitigation resolution;
- Lead MOC process Continuous Improvement efforts;
- Participating in JHSC/JOSH/CER Safety Inspections;
- Participate in Emergency Response Plan creation and exercises;
- Fill field emergency response roles as required: planning, technical support, etc.;
- Support operations regulatory compliance and reporting including participation in audits and area "fresh eyes" inspections;
- Provide technical leadership to field operations while assisting the team in identifying opportunities for improving operations within budgeted operating costs;
- Developing and implementing rate tests of requested assets;
- Foster an area culture of continuous improvement;

Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering designation;
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ideally Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical);
- Progressive years of related industry work experience;
- Preference toward candidates with field-related experience;
- Strong leadership skills;
- A self-starter, driven to seek out and identify opportunities;
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to set priorities, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment;
- Understanding of the role of health, safety, environmental and quality management systems in the oil and gas industry;
- Thorough knowledge of project management, project execution and project engineering processes; and
- Working knowledge of ASME, ABSA, AER, CSA and regulatory codes related to the operation of oil and gas facilities considered an asset.
