The Directors Guild of America (DGA) is a labor union that represents more than 19,000 Directors and other members of the directorial team in film, television, commercials, news, sports, variety and documentaries. The mission of the DGA is to advance the creative and economic rights of its members through organization and collective bargaining.

What You'll Do

Essential duties & responsibilities:

The Field Representative is responsible for building a strong DGA presence at our members' place of work, developing member leaders, building strategic relationships, and enforcing DGA collective bargaining agreements. This position will work primarily with our members working in non-dramatic including high profile news, sports and live entertainment programs. This role may additionally involve working with member-led committees.

What You'll Need

Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three years of union or entertainment industry experience, with a particular emphasis on knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and organizing, but all are welcome to apply. Candidates must have exceptional communication, interpersonal relations, and analytical skills.

Qualifications:
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical, curious, and self-motivated.
  • Believes in the mission of the DGA.

Requirements:

The position involves evening and weekend work and requires flexibility in hours. Although based primarily in New York, the position will regularly require out-of-state travel to DGA projects in the eastern region. Candidate must have and maintain a valid New York driver's license, auto insurance, and an automobile for business use.
