Responsibilities:
  • On site and field safety representative.
  • Conduct site audits, lead training courses, hold weekly safety meetings, facilitate safety committee meetings, perform accident investigation, ensure safety policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure employees have proper training and PPE.
  • Assemble and maintain site safety documentation (hot work permits, GFCI inspections, confined space permits, excavation permits, etc.) as defined in the Site Specific Safety Plan and Safety Manual.
  • Develop the Site Specific Safety Plan for the project alongside the project team; ensure subcontractors and vendors implement their safety plans and comply with KWH's Site Specific Safety Plan.
  • Ensure safety boards, equipment, and site-specific materials are supplied at each site.
  • Manage Accident Prevention Program and update codes and regulations as needed.
  • Oversee job site HCSS Safety and general safety audits, ensuring corrective safety observations are documented and safety violations are corrected immediately.
  • Represent KWH in matters relating to OSHA including inspections and citations.
  • Encourage innovative thinking by the project team to increase the safety awareness of the project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
  • Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new opportunities in Washington State and other US markets.
  • Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a combination standard office, field office, construction site, and hybrid / home environment. KWH is willing to work with all employees on a work environment that allows them to excel. However, as a Field Safety Coordinator, extensive time will be spent at field offices and construction sites.
  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 75 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and extreme noise when conducting site visits and working in the field.

Requirements

  • 0-4 years of construction experience, preferably including structural steel installation or heavy civil construction.
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • CHST, ASP, and or GSP certifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping, and injury management skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power BI and Smartsheet.
  • Experience with HCSS Safety is advantageous.
  • Ability to collect and interpret data and apply it in a practical approach.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Technical knowledge of the following is required: Asbestos exposure; Lead exposure; Flammable storage; Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Hazwoper); Respirator fit training; Equipment - Crane, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, Forklift, etc.; Rigging / Signaling; Fall Protection; Confined Space; Scaffolding; Trench / Excavation; Blood-borne pathogens; Electrical safety; Defensive Driving; and Flagging.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively.
  • CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.


Salary Description

$70,000-100,000/year
